Who We Are

Brief Outline of the first 20 years of Inshindo Foundation 

2005 to date  

Inshindo Foundation is a Zambian Not-for-Profit Development Organisation that focuses on enabling local communities to access the knowledge that will enable them to take their development in their own hands. Our programs revolve around capacity building, community-based initiatives, generation, application and diffusion of knowledge, and collaboration. We see knowledge to be at the centre of Development. 

2015 to date 

Emergence of new programs and collaboration with new Funders

  • 2015: reflecting about working with the promoters in processes of community life 

  • 2016: Gathering with Promoters at Broadway school, birth of the Community Schools Program 
  • 2017: Unity Foundation starts funding PSA program in Mwinilunga 
  • 2018: Birth of the Community Agriculture Program, MoU signed with Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the use of Ngungu plot 
  • 2019: Ngungu Centre for Community Agriculture opens its doors 
  • 2023: Birth of the Tree Planting Project, Two Wings Foundation starts collaborating with Inshindo Foundation 
  • 2024: Organisation explores possibility of restarting a community program for family and community health 
  • 2025: Inshindo Foundation takes part in Public Health Gathering at the Bahá'í World Centre 

2011 to 2015

Development of PSA Administrative Units within and outside Zambia 

  • 2011: Zambia Internship for Lusaka, Southern and Ntambu 
  • 2012: Internship for Lubumbashi and Kenya and extending the PSA program to Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo 
  • 2013: Launch of PSA Seminars, Increased relationships with Bahá'í institutions and integration with Institute 
  • 2014: Expansion of the PSA program to other clusters in Zambia, including Kitwe, Chisamba and Sinazongwe 

2008 to 2011

Learning about Institutional Capacity, Program Delivery and coordination 

  • 2008: Appointed a Program Coordinator, Visited Columbia for further training in PSA program, established the Office in Kabwe Town, Inittiated collaborative relations with Kabwe Municipal Council and the Department of Community Development in Kabwe District, selected and trained the first PSA tutors and formed the first PSA groups in Kabwe. 

  • 2009: Relaunched the PSA groups in Kabwe after the collapse of the initial groups and the insightful reflection that followed 
  • 2010: Major staff Changes in the structure of the Organisation, Coordinators training in Kenya - Limuru 
  • 2011: First PSA Graduations in Zambia, Second group formation and recruitment of new tutors 

2005 to 2007

Establishment of the Organisation

  • 2005: Inshindo Foundation was born as a separate organisation from William M. Masetlha Foundation to be headed by Mr. Garth Pollock as Executive Director 
  • 2006: First Board of Directors appointed, Approved the Constitution of Inshindo Foundation, and Adopted the Preparation for Social Action (PSA) Program 
  • 2007: Officially Registered Inshindo Foundation and started operating within the premises of Masetlha Foundation.
